After five years of collaborative research and development, seed company Lidea and biostimulation specialist Agronutrition by DSG are pleased to announce the success of their technological partnership. Our collaboration has led to new seed-coating solutions for corn and cereals, designed to address the challenges facing European farmers: performance, profitability and the agroecological transition.
Because it all starts with the seed, investing in its potential means securing a successful harvest. Faced with current challenges around resilience, rising input costs and food sovereignty, Lidea and Agronutrition by DSG have chosen to pool their expertise in genetics, plant physiology and biostimulation.
This multi-year joint R&D effort has now resulted in a cutting-edge technology based on biofertiliser and biostimulant active ingredients.
This innovation will soon be rolled out across the European market through two solutions:
- a new-generation seed-coating technology marketed by Lidea for corn seeds;
- a biostimulant seed treatment (ST) developed and marketed by Agronutrition by DSG.
An R&D synergy to address challenges in the field
The development of this biotechnology stemmed from a shared observation: the need to provide European farmers with integrated solutions from the moment of sowing, to optimise plant nutrition, stimulate root development and improve nitrogen use efficiency throughout the crop cycle.
By combining a carefully selected bacterial consortium, a unique protein extract and a targeted nutritional complex, this innovation acts simultaneously on the soil, the root system and the crop’s metabolism. Development trials conducted by both partners have confirmed the robustness and consistency of this technological synergy under a wide range of soil and climate conditions.
“Our shared ambition was to design an integrated approach, starting from the seed, to enable more sustainable fertilisation that is less reliant on nitrogen inputs, while maintaining and improving crop establishment and yield performance,” said Céline Cauhapé, Head of Offer and Innovation at Lidea.
“This innovation is the culmination of several years of research by our R&D teams. It demonstrates our ability to turn scientific expertise into practical agricultural solutions, and to support our industrial and distribution partners in developing high value-added solutions for farmers,” said Christelle Rudelle, Technical and Commercial Manager for Seed Biosolutions at Agronutrition by DSG.
This long-term strategic partnership illustrates the commitment of Lidea and Agronutrition by DSG to the agriculture of the future, combining economic performance with environmental responsibility.
