Euralis is in close contact with poultry producers in the field

Pro Pulse, a new company dedicated to breeding pulses, has major ambitions from 2022. In July 2021, Lidea and TOP Semence, the main actors in research into variety breeding for seed production and marketing of pulses, announced that they were combining their variety breeding activities in a single company: Pro Pulse. The new company aims to develop new varieties of chickpea, lentil and dry bean. By pooling Lidea and TOP Semence’s breeding facilities and genetic resources, the company will be in a position to satisfy farmers’ needs and consumers’ demands more rapidly, while also meeting the objectives of the Protein Plan(1). The objective of this alliance is to increase the companies’ capacity to offer varieties of pulses (chickpea, lentil, dry bean) which are better adapted to meet: – consumers’ expectations, in terms of their nutritional requirements and ethical and environmental concerns; – producers’ agronomic expectations, in terms of yield, stress tolerance (particularly water stress), disease tolerance, ease of harvesting, etc; – manufacturers’ expectations, by taking into account the markets and technological needs of the various outlets.

COVER CROPS: ACTORS IN CARBON SEQUESTRATION

The choice of cover crops plays a major role in this quest for carbon neutrality. The right cover crop acts effectively and simultaneously by sequestering carbon in the soil and avoiding greenhouse gas emissions (N2O and CO2) by returning fertilising elements. Today, tools available to farmers estimate the contribution of cover crops to soil fertility and climate impact. Lidea proposes solutions for intermediate crops to store carbon in agricultural soils to allow farmers to access payments generated by the sale of carbon credits on voluntary markets and to achieve significant savings in nitrogen fertilization.

THE LOCAL FOOD BRAND LA TABLE DES PRODUCTEURS IS CELEBRATING ITS 10TH BIRTHDAY

The Euralis cooperative opened its first local food aisles in select Point Vert stores in 2012, a pioneering decision at the time. Over the years, our range of products has greatly expanded and the number of listed producers has also increased. However, our mission has always remained the same: providing resilience to farms by guaranteeing secure revenues for farmers who distribute their produce via our food aisles and meeting consumer demands as best as possible. The gamble has paid off. Boosted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the food aisles have proved to be a hit, while contributing to the economic vitality of regions.
