Montfort is a brand in the Euralis Food Division. In 2013, Montfort shook up the “traditional” vision of the foie gras market with a new approach, offering segmentation according to taste. Montfort’s range of foie gras are presented in attractive ranges, segmented according to taste, with greater clarity and improved aesthetics, encouraging new discoveries. Foie gras is a matter of taste, which is illustrated by the slogan “vous ne direz plus le Foie Gras, mais les Foies Gras” (in other words: there is more than one foie gras).
That strategy has enabled Montfort to secure a 25% market share in the raw foie gras sector and a 14% share of the part-cooked market.
The brand relies on the know-how of 370 members in the South-West, fattened duck farmers, who have turned foie gras into one of the jewels in the Euralis cooperative crown. Montfort has received IGP Sud-Ouest (Protected Geographic Indication) certification, showing that the foie gras comes from a duck which has been corn-fed, raised, fattened, killed, butchered and cooked in the South-West.
MONTFORT IS COMMITTED TO THE AGRI CONFIANCE PROCESS
Montfort has been committed to the process since 2001. It is binding on both producers and employees in the cooperative. It covers the whole of the production chain, from rearing to the processed product, introducing standards for rearing, followed by quality assurance and environmental protection programmes. Permanent controls are in place over all criteria, operated by independent certification bodies.
