CAP 2012, the Group's strategic plan

The Euralis strategic plan, Cap 2012, was launched in late 2007. It sets clear ambitions for a five-year period.

Cap 2012 sets out:

Three strategic priorities:

  • To strengthen our position in south-west France, by capitalising on the Group's areas of expertise and by investing in its established areas.
  • To diversify into new and growth markets, to meet the new needs of consumers and find new outlets for our farmers.
  • To develop internationally, to reinforce our positions and protect our established markets in the face of globalisation.

One objective: to achieve a turnover of €1.5 billion by 2012

One major ambition for each Division:

  • APD Division: extend its geographical limits to ensure continued growth in the traditional Euralis sectors in the face of structural change,
  • Seeds Division: deploy a conquest strategy by taking advantage of growth markets in Eastern Europe and consolidating R&D strengths,
  • Gastronomy Division: underpin its leadership position on the foie gras market by reinforcing its modes of distribution and building a balanced world network,
  • Catering Division: exploit a rapidly expanding market to strengthen our distribution networks and extend product ranges.

Already achieved in 2007-2008:

Priority: to reinforce our position in SW France

  •  links with Coopéval and integration of 15 Gamm Vert and Coop Vert branded stores – opening of 6 new Point Vert stores,
  •  new headquarters of Euralis Gastronomie established in Lescar and opening of foie gras shop,
  •  extension and renovation of the abattoir at Maubourguet,
  •  acquisition of Comosud, enabling Euralis Vigne to extend its mobile bottling business to the vineyards of the Rhone Valley, Provence, Languedoc and Roussillon,
  •  acquisition of Bartaliment, strengthening its wholesaling and distribution business.

Priority: to diversify into new and growth markets

  • investing in biomaterials and inauguration of Agrofibre, the first hemp processing plant in SW France,
  • entry of new companies into the Stalaven Group (Catering Division): the distributor Vodis based at Troyes, the wholesaler SAG in Les Essarts, the salads and starters specialist 3 Gourmands and the distributor Gastronome du Dauphiné in Isère,
  • Partnership in the Lacq biofuels plant,
  • signature of an agreement between Euralis Semences and BayerCropScience to develop new hybrid varieties of winter rape.

Priority: to develop internationally

  • new investment in the seed production site at Cherkassy, in the Ukraine,
  • acquisition of a foie gras production facility in Yangquing, China.
