In 2007, Euralis Seeds became established in Eastern Europe through the acquisition of a production facility in the Ukraine and two sales companies in the Ukraine and in Russia.

The business

  • Research and Development: Euralis Semences dedicates 12% of its turnover to research and owns 8 seed selection centres in Europe.
  • Agricultural production of maize, rape and sunflower seed on three sites at Lescar, Seville (Spain) and Cherkassy (Ukraine).
  • Seeds marketed through 4 brands: Euralis Semences, Rustica, France Canada Semences and Cherlis.

  • 300,000 farmer customers in Europe
  • Almost 3 million ha sown every year in Europe

Quality

Euralis Seeds products are fully traceable over 10,000 ha and subject to official and inter-trade checks: SOC (Service Officiel de Contrôle) and GNIS (Groupement National Interprofessionnel de Semences). This system is internationally recognised. More widely, across Europe, there are 24,000 ha producing Euralis seeds which are also inspected and traced by the different national bodies in over 10 countries.

Partnerships

Alliances enable Euralis Semences to reinforce its position and strengthen the effectiveness of its research programmes:

  • Euralis owns a stake in Biogemma, Europe's first biotechnology company working with agricultural plants
  • A partnership was signed with BayerCrop Science in 2007 to develop new varieties of winter rape
  • Integration of the Advanta sunflower programme into Soltis, a joint subsidiary of Euralis Semences and Limagrain, strengthened the gene pool for this species
  • Eurosorgho, now the largest European sorghum producer, was created in 2009 as a 50/50 joint company with Sud Céréales
